Two Wild Hares

After many attempts at making Bath Bombs we finally nailed it. Thanks to the recommendations of a fellow Bath Bomb Addict we ended up on Etsy at the home of Two Wild Hares   We paid $14 for her recipe PDF and let me tell you, it was worth every cent. Sometimes it takes numerous failures to appreciate success. As soon as we gathered all our ingredients together and started moulding the Bombs we knew something was different. No cracking, no falling apart. Perfect Bath Bombs. Now that we have the recipe we can work at being creative. Frosted toppings, different moulds....you get the idea! Part of the agreement when purchasing the recipe was not to share it publicly. Fair enough, it is worth the money that the owner sells it for and knowing what we know now a good recipe is worth its weight in gold. Basically you can recoup that $14 in a couple of bath bomb sales. If you are interested in the recipe then head on over to  https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/TwoWildHares

Bath Bomb success

We had our first success with Bath Bombs! Perfectly round, no cracks and smelling delicious. O.k, Only one of the dozen or more we made turned out that way but who is counting? With each batch we are learning. Our recent attempt was affected by a slight change in recipe from the original. As we mentioned in an earlier post that recipe lacked SLSA. According to information we read the amount of SLSA depends on the amount of Baking Soda used. In this case it was six cups which according to the rules meant six tablespoons of SLSA. This caused a problem as there was no mention of adding more oil to balance the ingredients. We took it upon ourselves to add two more tablespoons of oil......MISTAKE 😜 Basically we ended up with a mixture that was too wet. The Bath Bombs came out beautifully but took forever to dry and some expanded and refused to leave their mould. There were a lot of tears and hair pulling involved 🤣 Next time we will use witch hazel to wet the Bath Bombs instead of a...
We thought that making bath bombs would be easy! Fun even! So far neither of those descriptions are accurate. Messy would be a better word or perhaps Damn Frustrating more precise. We tried five different recipes over five days. That is a LOT of wasted ingredients. Although in saying that we did harvest some to package as Bath Salts 😜 We watched numerous YouTube videos. Everybody seems to have their own technique. Some use rubbing alcohol, others prefer witch hazel. Some use corn starch whilst others say it could potentially cause a yeast infection. Some like Epsom salts yet others claim it is too drying. Bottom line is that there are a lot of potential ingredients but at the end of the day you  have to decide what works best. The final recipe we tried was found on a Bath Bomb forum. The creator kindly shared it for free. We discovered that a lot of people guard their recipe like a precious treasure, telling nobody it’s secrets. It was the most successful of all, the mixt...
